the nation's capitol.
Mr. B. Satu, President of the
DC-Maryland Chapter of the
Liberian Association, give a
brief description of "26" event.
He also used the time to extend
a formal invitation to the
Friends and Supporters of
Liberian Basketball, Inc,
(formally
Friends and Supporters of LBF-USA). Mr. Satu explained that
this was a ULAA sponsored event
with the intention of bringing
more Liberians together,
celebrating our independence day
and also generating revenues for
ULAA. He also added that this
occasion would serve as a
perfect time for the FASLBF-USA
to officially gather, create a
more structure leadership, gain
public recognition and also
generate funds for the
organization. Also present at
the conference call was the
secretary of ULAA, Mr. Isaac
Zawolo. Mr. Zawolo assured the
body that his presence at the
meeting was to officially
confirm the invitation and that
ULAA is willing to cooperate
with FASLBF-USA in our quest to
generate revenues that will help
us achieve our goals in Liberia.
After several minutes of
fruitful discussions, the two
men asked to be excused because
of another meeting that needed
their participation.
During our discussion, Mr. Eric
Daniels moved that we set up a
committee that will work with
ULAA in preparing a memorandum
that will enable both parties to
successfully work together. It
was seconded and the committee
was immediately set up. The
members that volunteered for
that committee were Mrs. Dawn
Tolbert, Mr. Ori Wright, Mr. B.
Satu, and Mr. A. Fannoh.
Hon. Marbue Richards took the
floor to give us a brief
description of issues and
problems facing the LBF and
hindering the development
of basketball in Monrovia,
Liberia. He also stress the need
for us to help prepare the
national team their
international competitions in
July and August. He asked that
the FASLBF-USA should increase
training materials that will
seriously help the youth in
learning basic fundamentals of
the game. Mr. Richards
explained that his ministry and
the LBF are trying hard to
improve the existing courts and
playgrounds around the city so
that more youth can have other
area for practices. He said that
the are looking in the
possibilities of acquiring other
land for b/ball courts
.Coincidentally, some of the
problems that he talk about are
on our list for LBF and the
Immediate, medium range, long
range plans.
We collectively asked Mr.
Richards to put together a
budgetary description of several
of the projects that need to be
tackle so that we can know how
to address them in terms of
preference.
The coordinator later thank Mr.
Richards taking off time from
his busy schedule to join us and
sharing ideas in order to better
deal with our ballers problem in
Liberia. The coordinator re
mined others of the need to
contribute our $100.00 pledges
so that we could start making
some head ways in Monrovia .A
lot of the members said that
they were not aware of the
increment but , assure the body
that their pledges will be in by
the week end. Members were
